What is Coaching?

Coaching may be described as the process of unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them (Whitmore J, Coaching for Performance, 2002).The coachee uses his own internal resources to achieve his goals; the coach acts as facilitator and guide.

Building awareness, responsibility and self-belief is the goal of the coach. This means that the coach needs to relinquish the desire to control the coachee and to let go of any notions of superiority. This may seem obvious but is more difficult to achieve in real life than it first appears. It is also imperative that the coaching relationship produces the desired result and that it is acknowledged as such by the coachee. Otherwise, it compounds the problem of a lack of self-belief.

Coaching is also about performing at one’s best through the individual and private assistance of someone who will challenge, stimulate and guide the coachee to keep growing. 

Coaching is about self-actualisation – a point at which the coachee not only truly knows herself but within this knowledge possess a feeling of comfort with and understanding of, the person she discovers. 

From time to time you may need to take stock of your life - maybe on a personal basis or a professional one, or both. Working with a professional coach helps you understand where you are at present; where you want to be within a certain time frame; and what's stopping you from getting there.

How it works

A coaching relationship is always client-led - you are in the driving seat. The coach is merely the guide or facilitator. Through appropriate questioning we will explore your strengths as well as areas where you can "rewire" your mind and turn challenges into opportunities.

 

Transformational Coaching

Over the years I have applied a "whole person deep transformational coaching" approach with success. This means the coaching relationship is not confined to the client's job or relationships or career - it is a complete and thorough review of their life with the aim of enabling them to change their thinking and perception, thus beginning the process of deep, long-lasting beneficial transformation. It enables the individual to change from the inside out.

In our coaching relationship we will look at all the areas of your life where you feel there may be obstacles or negative thinking and work together to create a fundamental shift in your thoughts, beliefs and perceptions, rather than just explore short-term or temporary solutions. As an accredited life coach I am passionate about helping you transform your thinking, begin and maintain your process of positive change.

 

Solution-focused Coaching

Some individuals may seek professional coaching because they are looking for an answer or solution to a specific issue in their personal or professional life. The coaching sessions are tailored to be solution-focused, concentrating on the solution, not the perceived obstacle or problem.

Together we will look at your mindset, your motivation level and how determined you are to achieve the goal you have in mind. The sessions are positive and action-oriented. You should be prepared to be challenged?

 

Whether the coaching sessions are deeply transformational or solution-focused, they have certain elements in common - they will help you change your mindset or perceptions, increase your motivation and become more resilient in facing challenges.

Duration: Each session is one hour long.

Number of sessions:The minimum number of sessions is 4. The maximum number depends on your individual requirements.

Fee: The hourly fee is £80. Four weeks booked and paid for in advance: £300. All sessions are by appointment, paid for at the time of booking.
